In Buena Park, the community celebrates diversion and appreciation for culture with an annual event. The culture fest has been celebrated for the past two years and has now become a staple for the community. Community members can experience different cultures through music, food, and performances. This year, the guests were able to participate in a “Holi Color Play” in which they were showered with color powder. The performances included Korean dance groups, ballet Folklorico, Mariachi, Drum Band, and more. The booths showcased traditional displays such as Dia de los Muertos, Syrian, Bolivian, and Romania. Overall, the guests were able to appreciate various cultures through food. The vendors consist of traditional Filipino food, Korean street food, African food, Italian, Asian fusion, and Mexican food. If you missed this year's culture fest. Do not worry, Buena Park will most likely have one next year!
Move More Eat Healthy has had the honor of working closely with the city of La Habra for over 10 years. During the City’s Centennial Celebration, they had the opportunity to showcase a beautiful new mural tree. The words, “faith, volunteer, education” were included in the mural and truly captured the essence of La Habra. The celebration included community members and partners. During the event Councilmembers had an opportunity to share about the City and its rich history. All shared personal stories of what it was like growing up in La Habra. Mayor Espinoza mentioned that her sister was one of the first students to join La Habra school when it first opened. Throughout City Hall, you can find historical photographs of what La Habra used to look like. One of the rooms has multiple High School yearbooks. Many former students in the yearbooks were present during the event, reminiscing on the good old times. Live music and delicious food was also offered and contributed to the unforgettable celebration. As we continue to partner and collaborate with La Habra it’s important to look back at the history of the City and continue to celebrate all the hard work towards creating healthier communities by empowering community members in physical activity, improved nutrition and overall healthy lifestyles. Happy Birthday La Habra!
On Saturday, March 8th, 2025, La Habra had its annual La Habra Races. This year, La Habra celebrates its Centennial Birthday. Many people were able to participate in the run/walk 5k. As usual, the kiddos had an opportunity to show off their fast moves in the kiddy run, toddler trot, and the 50 YD. Move More Eat Healthy had the pleasure of leading the stretches in our infamous fruit costumes. Henry the Hamster, our beloved mascot, had the opportunity to join us on this special day. There were various informational booths, such as ours, in which we distributed important flyers and promoted our quarterly challenge, Golden Year, Golden Me. Other vendors, like VCC: The Gary Center, attended and brought out the mobile pantry. Moreover, the other vendors were local businesses around the area. If you missed this year's La Habra Race, do not worry. You could catch the next one next year!
